Greetings!

Hello everyone! This is the first edition of the new St Aelred's Parish NewsExtra, (which needs a cool name!?).

Many thanks to everyone who attended the open meeting of the Liturgy Team on Monday night. This newsletter is one of the results of a most successful and productive meeting. So thank you for your input and support.

Children's Liturgy

We are going to re-establish the children's liturgy at the 9.30 mass but we intend to run it every week instead of once a month. We have a small group of volunteers prepared to start this off and get things up and running, but we need some more people to join our team! The children will gather at the front of the altar after the first hymn and then go across to the centre. They will return to church at the offertory and process up to the altar with their work and then return to their families The group is intended for young children who have not yet made their First Holy Communion.

We need to get a rough idea of the number of children who will be taking part so if you would like your child to join the group please see one of the team at the back of church today.

Parish Ramble

On Sunday 11 May, we are going to hold a Parish Ramble in Dalby Forest after the school mass. We will then gather in the Community Centre after coffee and sort out cars and maps. The toll is £7 per car so it might be a good idea to car-share if possible. The plan is to take a picnic and amble round a three-mile walk at a leisurely pace. There are also other facilities to enjoy, including a children's play area. As it is the Feast of the Pentecost on that Sunday, it has also been suggested that everyone wears something red!

Parish Ministers

There are lots of ways that you can become involved in supporting the parish. Most only require a small commitment from you and yet would make a most valuable contribution to the smooth running of our parish community. On the reverse of this sheet there is a brief description of each ministry. Please have a read and consider whether you could offer your services in any way. We particularly need some more helpers to run the Children's Liturgy.
